Pairng 2009: 参加報告（１日目）

ということで Pairing 2009 に参加しましたので、その感想を書きとどめたいと思います。

Pairing とはペアリング(双線型写像)に関する国際会議で、3 回目の今回はスタンフォード大学で開催されました(ちなみに 1 回目は東京、2 回目はロンドンで開催されました)。参加者は50人位とちょっと少なめでしたが、会議のテーマが絞られている分、仕方ないのかもしれません。Program Chair は Hovav Shacham と Brent Waters, General Chair: は Voltage 社の Terence Spies でした。

Pairing 2009 では招待講演が 3 件、一般講演が 16 件 (投稿数は 33 件、採録率は約40%)、"Hot Topic" な講演が 5 件ありました。

１日目の招待講演は Victor Miller で、Miller アルゴリズムに関するチュートリアルと発明までの足跡が紹介されました。形式群の定義から始まった前半部では、キョトンとされていた方が多かったように思います。Miller アルゴリズムは見たことがあっても、その背景まではなかなか見る機会がないのかもしれません。

Hot Topic Session では、他の国際会議などで報告された最近の成果が紹介されました。講演者とタイトルは以下の通りです。

• Amit Sahai: Functional Encryption
• Susan Hohenberger: Adaptive Oblivious Transfer
• Jens Groth: Sub-linear Size Non-Interactive Zero Knowledge Proof

また、この日の一般講演の講演者とタイトルは以下の通りです。個人的には、一番最初の Boneh-Boyen 署名の偽造困難性と、qSDH問題の困難性の等価性が興味深かったです。

ちなみにこの日は大学前のレストランで懇親会がありました。サーブされるワインのボトルの本数がテーブルごとに限りがあったのはちょっと悲しかったです。
